The Art of a Family

Photography is an art.  And never more has that been true for me than it is when working with a family, and all the moving parts that must come together to create images that not only work, but also speak to what that particular family is about as a whole.  As much as this can present quite a few challenges (as I'm sure you've noticed as a parent trying to capture images of your children by themselves, let alone as a group), it's also a tremendous chance to focus in on what's most important, and come away with something truly special amidst all the chaos.

Of course, we are always going to figure out a way to capture that good ole' classic family portrait during our time together...

...but I also can't help but imagine at least a few other ways to go about things, and perhaps throw a little bit of magic and fun into the mix...

Still, often enough I've found it best to keep quiet throughout a session, and simply let special candid moments unfold. Wouldn't you agree?

"We can't say enough about our experience with Michael!"

No matter what, at the end of the day, it's all about family...your family (thanks Rod Stewart). And to me, a family photoshoot is all about bringing everyone together, all the moving parts, and all the personalities, and capturing as many meaningful moments as we possibly can...some that make you smile...some that will make you laugh...and every moment aimed at showcasing the special bond between each family member and their love for each other...

FAMILY SESSION DETAILS

Family sessions are $550, all-inclusive, with no hidden costs after the fact.

That's 60 to 90 minutes of natural light — enough room for the classic family portrait we all hope for deep down, plus all the unplanned moments in between that usually end up being the most charming keepers. I stick to natural light with families on purpose: with this many moving parts, I'd rather stay quick on my feet and catch what's actually happening than stop to fuss with light stands.

You'll come away with 50–75+ edited, high-resolution images to keep, print, and share however you want. Your 15 favorites get the full treatment on top of that — stray hairs, skin, all the fine detail cleaned up so they really shine. Your final gallery is also hooked up to the professional lab I use myself, marked up as little as I can manage so beautiful prints are just a few clicks away.

Note: Sessions are held within about 15 miles of downtown Franklin. Large extended-family groups, travel beyond that, or adding studio lighting can run a little more — I'll always tell you up front.

Let's find the beauty in all the chaos! Message me below with your ideas, questions, or to check availability.
